SLOWCYCLING

SLOWCYCLING

Slowcycling is the creative reduction of waste in the global exchange by finding new bottom up applications for our waste. The goal is to slow down the damage from excess materials in the waste cycle by making them part of our everyday lives – like tending to  a plant.

REUSE

Transform your waste into something new and useful.

All over the world, shadow cities have emerged in the wake of urban prosperity. Some people in these communities come together to harvest the waste of nearby developed areas. The people who “salvage reusable and recyclable materials thrown away by others” are known as waste pickers.  Each individual must join the unofficial movement to hoard, clean, organize, and apply our trash for new purpose. As waste pickers around the world continue to be the first line of defense in slowcycling those of us in urban enclaves need to pick up the slack. Until we can reorient our daily routines to be less wasteful (hopefully near zero waste in the next 20 years) we need to find other applications for personal waste.

Jars, Bags, and Weights

Why do we hate our trash? Some of it can be disgusting but why do we discard it in haste and pretend as though it never existed? If we love the things we consume then shouldn’t we love the byproducts of that relationship? So how do we fall in love with our trash and stop being wasteful human beings. We must remove our personal trash from the global waste system. Remember, it’s only waste if you waste it.

Application

Stuff Jars

Become a waste steward, keep a Stuff Jar. When someone decides to take in a jar and care for it, you become part of a movement to keep waste out of the system. You become a steward for this treated waste. By participating in this action you are embracing new patterns of reuse that can reduce the amount of waste currently in circulation.
